Call in 605-475-4860, code 882916

Core Members with buildings are several challenges under new regulations and fees. In addition, there seems to be a disparity among Core Members about which fees, taxes, and other assessments they each pay. Join your peers for a discussion of these challenges and make recommendations that can be included in the new cultural plan!

Mykola Zhuravel Retrospective Exhibit
Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art
2320 W. Chicago Ave. Chicago, IL 60622

Opening Reception: Friday, February 17, 6-9pm Exhibit Dates: February 17 - April 15 The Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art presents the retrospective exhibit of Mykola Zhuravel. Based in Kyiv, Ukraine he is a contemporary artist who experiments and works with a variety of media. The collection that will be on display at the UIMA includes paintings, graphics, levkas (a particular type of chalk priming commonly used in iconography), sculptures, photographs and an installation. Mr. Zhuravel uses golden tones to enrich his palette; his graphics resemble architectural plans which envision urban landscapes. Levkas, being the most prominent ‘ingredient’ of his creative output, is in its complexity the artist’s main inspiration. Levkas gives the opportunity to work simultaneously on multiple surfaces – in addition to painting proper, it involves scratching through to the lower layers of paint, to the priming. Mykola Zhuravel was fascinated by this technique during his student years; he became attracted to its drawing-and-craftwork combination, which is a distinguishing feature of Zhuravel’s art.
