DESCRIPTION:Since 2017\, PRAA has hosted the Noche Caribeña concert at Navy Pier’s Polk Bros Park Lake Stage Lawn. In partnership with Navy Pier\, this summertime event is FREE and open to the public. Featured are Cuatristas along with international and local artists with their groups\, as well as\, up and coming musicians. This concert offers audience members multiple music genres including Puerto Rican and Afro-Caribbean folk\, popular Latin American\, big band\, salsa\, ballads\, bomba and plena interpretations. Set with a backdrop of Navy Pier\, spectacular views of Chicago and the resonances of music draw Chicago residents and visitors for an enjoyable evening concert. \nThis year on August 13\, 2022 PRAA was honored to present to you some of the most prominent local music artists from Chicago.

DESCRIPTION:Two days of dance\, music\, and other performances to celebrate the Indigenous peoples of the Western Hemisphere.\n\nSky People Entertainment and the Old Town School of Folk Music bring Chicago the FIRST Indigenous Peoples Day festival to celebrate Indigeneity all weekend long! This two-night event will bring full musical performances by Indigenous artists.\n\nNight one will showcase a variety of Indigenous rock\, EDM\, and Hip-Hop music ending the night with an Indigi-Dance party for all at Logan Square Auditorium. Performances include Dj Shub\, Mato Wayuhi & Dj Tewa\, OPLIAM\, and Phnx.Wav.\n\nNight two closes the festival at the Old Town School of Folk Music with Indigenous musical performances and dance mixed with Latin fusion. Night two will have your hips swinging all night long to the performances of Indigenous\, Chicha Roots\, Dizá\, and Galguez.\n\nJoin us on October 9 and 10 and experience two nights of Contemporary Native American & Indigenous music and dance. SUMMARY:Journey Chicago: We Walk: A Celebration of Black Community
DESCRIPTION:This event is part of Journey Chicago\, the Chicago Cultural Alliance’s annual citywide festival of cross-cultural events. \nThe Haitian American Museum of Chicago will bring its outdoor\, community\, traveling exhibition to North Lawndale for the second year in the row. We Walk: A Celebration of Black Community\, was originally organized in 2020\, in the Uptown neighborhood\, in direct response to the Black Lives Matter protests and the disproportionate effect of the Covid-19 Pandemic on the Black community. The primary collaborators of the exhibition came from the African-American and Black Diasporic communities\, including BILPOC (Black\, Indigenous\, Latinx\, People of Color) led organizations\, immigrant groups\, small business owners\, local historians\, cultural experts\, artists and activists. The exhibition is an empowering cultural outlet that highlights positive Black contributions.\n\nCrossing Borders Music will perform at 1PM.\n\nHAMOC is collaborating with Crossing Borders Music\, Lawndale Pop Up Spot\, the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) and Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) to expand on the exhibition and transform it into a festival-like event.
