Stroll through the exhibition with us!\nTaking place at Dawes Park east of Sheridan Rd between Lake Street and Greenwood St (around 1413 Sheridan Rd)\, Evanston\, IL\n“We Walk: A Celebration of Black Community” is a program created in 2020 by the Haitian American Museum of Chicago (HAMOC) who invited Crossing Borders Music’s participation in this ongoing\, uplifting project.\nThis project is partially supported by a grant from the Evanston Arts Council\, an agency supported by the City of Evanston\, Illinois Arts Council Agency\, and the National Endowment for the Arts. DESCRIPTION:Learn how to make Autumn-themed Nerikiri with Wagashi Master\, Toshiko Sugii Steffes. \nAttendees will make colorful Chrysanthemum designs of Nerikiri sweets. \nThis design is called “Kisewata(着せ綿)” and is a special design for “Chō yō no sekku（重陽の節句)” which means chrysanthemums celebrations or longevity celebration on September 9th. Chrysanthemums are believed to have the power to purge evil spirits and bring longevity in Japan. \nNerikiri was originally made to be served in the Japanese tea ceremony. Nerikiri is made by mixing and kneading the ingredients white butter bean paste and mochi rice cake. \nDate: Friday\, September 9\, 2022\nTime: 6:00 – 7:30 pm CS \nFee: $65 for JASC Members\, $75 for Non-members \n_______________ \nMaterials will be available for pick up at the JASC office weekdays 9:00 am – 5:00 pm at 4427 N.
