Learn about what awaited the millions who came to America via Ellis Island and what life was like in Swedish neighborhoods such as Andersonville in Chicago then and now. The tour is free with admissions\, and members are free. Reservations are recommended and can be made via email to museum@samac.org.

DESCRIPTION:Pysanka Workshops at the Ukrainian National Museum\nWe are excited to once again announce the Pysanky (Easter Egg) Workshops at the Ukrainian National Museum.\nThis year we offer in-person classes.\n\nYou will discover the art of writing pysanky by our expert Pysanka Instructor Anna Chychula. In each session\, you will learn the process of how to use the tools (kistka\, wax\, dyes) and to write your own pysanka. SUMMARY:Lithuanian Easter Egg Etching Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Lithuanian Easter Egg Workshop with folk-artist Don Astras who will instruct you in the etching/scratch technique!\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nJoin us on Saturday\, April 2 at 2 pm at the Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture for our popular Easter Egg Decorating workshop using the traditional Lithuanian surface etching technique. Each participant is asked to bring 6 hardboiled and dyed eggs to the workshop. Preregistered participants will receive information on how to dye eggs using natural onion skin with their registration confirmation email. Etching tools will be provided. \nAdditional patterns and designs by the late Ursula Astras\, the folk-artist who taught the workshops at the Museum for many years and whose son\, Don\, and wife\, Kathy\, now carry on the folk-art traditions.
