SUMMARY:Notes from the Field
DESCRIPTION:Witness the powerful stories of 19 individuals fighting to overcome and transform America’s education and criminal justice systems.\nTHIS STRIKINGLY INTIMATE PIECE presents snapshots from a variety of real people\, documenting their intersections with the American dream and the obstacles that work to block them from it. Utilizing verbatim dialogue pulled from more than 250 accounts from students\, faculty\, prisoners\, activists\, politicians\, and victims’ families\, Notes from the Field takes audiences on an emotional journey through the faults and injustices of an American criminal justice system that seems more focused on incarceration over education. Deeply human\, profoundly moving\, and full of moments of humor\, compassion\, and resilience\, it’s a masterful work that asks you to observe\, be present\, and join the call for urgent and necessary change. \nOriginally performed by creator Anna Deavere Smith as a one-woman show\, in TimeLine’s Chicago premiere\, three actors weave together narratives of change makers\, activists\, and those caught within the system for an evening of theatre unlike anything you’ve experienced before.

SUMMARY:Flamenco Festival: LAS MIGAS
DESCRIPTION:Las Migas first exploded on the flamenco scene 20 years ago in Barcelona as a singularly unique\, all-female and multinational quartet in an extremely male-dominated and insular genre. They have challenged stereotypes and flamenco traditions with astounding success over their long career and have evolved into a powerhouse of Flamenco fusion that has earned them many\nawards including a Latin Grammy nomination followed by a Latin Grammy award in 2022 for Libres. The current line-up\, all hailing from different regions of Spain\, include vocalist Carolina “La Chispa\,” guitarists Marta Robles and Alicia\nGrillo\, violinist Laura Pacios and special guest bassist Oriol Riart Laborda. After numerous tours in the U.S.\, Europe\, and Latin America\, audiences are finally offered an opportunity to see these Flamenco trailblazers in their Chicago debut!

SUMMARY:NOTES FROM THE FIELD BlackOut Night!
DESCRIPTION:Join TimeLine Saturday\, March 9 at 8pm to experience NOTES FROM THE FIELD on a night specially dedicated to and celebrating Black\, Indigenous\, and People of Color (BIPOC) artists and audience members.\nIf you are a BlPOC-identifying individual and would like to be a part of this special evening\, get tickets here! \nWhat is BlackOut Night?\nA BLACK OUT is the purposeful creation of an environment in which Black\, Indigenous\, and People of Color (BIPOC) identifying audience members can experience and discuss an event in the performing arts\, film\, athletic\, and cultural spaces where they are the majority. \nA concept birthed by Slave Play playwright Jeremy O. Harris\, the inaugural BLACK OUT night took place on September 18\, 2019. For the first time in history\, all 804 seats of Broadway’s Golden Theatre were occupied by Black-identifying audience members in communion\, celebration\, and recognition of Broadway’s rich\, diverse\, and fraught history of Black work. Based on the success of the first BLACK OUT\, Slave Play hosted a second BLACK OUT on January 8\, 2020\, to bookend its Broadway run. Since then\, other BLACK OUT events have organically taken hold. Learn more at blackoutnite.com. \nWhat can I expect when attending BlackOut Night?\nThe intention behind this performance is to provide a supportive\, safe\, judgment-free space for BIPOC theatregoers to experience a show made by BIPOC artists in a space reserved for the BIPOC community. The audience will be comprised of a majority of BIPOC audience members. \nAre you excluding non-BIPOC people from attending this performance?\nWhile we are not preventing or precluding anyone from attending this performance\, we hope that non-BlPOC audience members will choose to experience the play on another date. We thank you in advance for supporting these artists and TimeLine as we facilitate an opportunity for a community to celebrate and enjoy this special event. \nAre there special ticket prices available?\nYes! We are offering three Pay-What-You-Will pricing options: $15\, $30\, and $57 (inclusive of all fees). \nIf these price levels are a barrier to you\, we do have a limited number of further-reduced tickets that TimeLine can make available to you. Please reach out to the Box Office to inquire via boxoffice@timelinetheatre.com or 773.281.8463 x6. \nWill there be BlackOut Nights for future TimeLine shows?\nTimeLine intends to continue to offer BlackOut performances for work by BIPOC playwrights and artists in future seasons.
