SUMMARY:The Blue-Hued Beloved: A Curator Talk & Kuchipudi Dance Performance
DESCRIPTION:Experience The Blue-Hued Beloved\, an afternoon celebrating the many artistic traditions inspired by Krishna\, one of South Asia’s most enduring and beloved cultural figures. \nThe program begins with a curator talk by SAI Curator Sydney Barofsky\, offering insight into artworks that have shaped representations of the blue-hued deity across centuries. Accompanied by live Carnatic music\, the afternoon culminates in a captivating Kuchipudi performance by Srivani Vokkarane\, Artistic Director of Kaivalya Arts. \nThrough movement\, music\, and storytelling\, Vokkarane brings timeless stories of Krishna to life\, including her spectacular Tarangam—a signature Kuchipudi piece performed while balancing on the rim of a brass plate.
