DESCRIPTION:MALA presents a special presentation and discussion centering on the legacy of legendary dancer\, teacher\, producer\, and choreographer Robert Joffrey\, who was born Anver Bey Abdullah Jaffa Khan. Joffrey’s achievements and innovations in dance and education have helped to shape the landscape of arts in the U.S. and throughout the global community.\n\nJoin us on Wednesday\, June 15th to learn more about Robert Joffrey’s life and legacy as we honor Pride Month and explore the influence of Muslim cultures and heritage in the arts. The program will feature a presentation on Robert Joffrey’s cultural and artistic background\, with an emphasis on his contributions to the Chicago dance community\, to be followed by a Q&A session.\n\n*This program is made possible through the generous support of Illinois Humanities’ Activating History grant.

DESCRIPTION:It’s time for another Schlagernacht with live entertainment by Pieptone! For those unfamiliar with the band\, Pieptone! plays German-language pop hits\, rarities\, and oddities of the 1950s and 60s\, everyone from pop idols of the day like Rex Gildo\, Gitte\, and Peter Alexander to American stars like Connie Francis and Chubby Checker.\n\nThere will be food\, fresh German beer on draft\, and\, of course\, the terrace will be open to enjoy the view and spend another fun-filled summer night at the DANK Haus.\n\nOur Open Haus is a great way to meet new friends\, or bring your friends and introduce them to the Haus! This event is located in our popular 6th Floor Skyline Lounge\, complete with vintage bar and sweeping panoramic views of the Chicago skyline.\n\nIn order to help cover the costs of live entertainment\, we will be asking for a $10 suggested donation at the door!\n\nFree parking at 5/3 Bank after 6:00 PM located at Western and Gunnison

DESCRIPTION:The Chinatown Museum Foundation is hosting its 21st Benefit Dinner to raise funds for the Chinese American Museum of Chicago (CAMOC). Our theme this year is “Our History\, Our Culture\, Our Voice”. Please join us for this night of performances\, raffle\, authentic Chinese food\, cash bar\, and much more! \n\nAs a nonprofit\, CAMOC relies solely on sponsorships\, donations\, and memberships to put on exhibitions and public programs. Your participation in this event will go a long way to support our mission to promote the culture and history – through exhibitions\, educational\, and research – of Chinese Americans in the Midwest. Each year we raise money to ensure we continue to preserve our cultural heritage and history.
