DESCRIPTION:Heritage Museum of Asian Art is collaborating with 2024 Resident Artist Irene Hsiao to create a new interactive installation\, performance\, and workshop series called If the Sky Could Dream. Coinciding with the Lunar Year of the Dragon\, the museum will showcase dragon artworks from throughout Asia\, as well as include an original\, contemporary vision of the dragon from an Asian American perspective by Hsiao.\n​\nIf the Sky Could Dream combines drawing\, painting\, dance\, found materials and found spaces at the museum to reveal and celebrate the dragons among us—structural\, ancestral\, architectural\, internal\, and environmental. Join us on Saturday\, March 23\, 2024\, for an immersive workshop led by the talented instructor Christine Frankowicz-Burd. \n\n\n\n\nDuring this two-hour session starting at 10:00 a.m.\, you’ll learn the intricate techniques of Pisanki at the Polish Museum of America\, located at 984 North Milwaukee Avenue\, Chicago. DESCRIPTION:Korean Culture Workshop: Obangsaek\n(오방색\, 五方色) with Young Kim \n1 pm – 3 pm\, Saturday\, March 23 | General $15 | Member $10 \nJoin our workshop for an exploration of Obangsaek (오방색\, 五方色)\, the colors of Korea\, and create your own collage postcards using these symbolic colors. This session offers a unique opportunity to engage with Korean heritage in a creative and meaningful manner. \nAbout the Instructor: Young Kim is a Chicago-based interdisciplinary artist from South Korea who works with painting\, weaving\, installation\, hand paper-making\, and performance. She received a BFA in Textile Art from Hongik University in Seoul and an MFA in Fine Arts at Columbia College Chicago in 2023 and has participated in considerable solo and group exhibitions throughout Korea\, the U.S.\, and abroad.

SUMMARY:Windows on Design Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Stained glass has been enhancing buildings around the world for thousands of years. Discover how these windows are designed and then make your own acrylic stained-glass window. \nIn Chicago\, stained glass can be found in historic temples\, churches\, Gilded Aged mansions\, and landmark municipal buildings. Participants will learn how these dazzling-colored windows were designed and then make their own acrylic stained-glass windows. Participants will then take what they learned and make their own acrylic stained-glass window project to take home. \nWORKSHOP FACILITATOR: PAUL NEUMANN\nCAC educator Paul Neumann has worked at the New-York Historical Society\, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Frick Collection\, and was previously Acting Executive Director at Pleasant Home\, a historic house in Oak Park\, Illinois. Neumann holds a BFA in Sculpture and Mixed Media from Virginia Commonwealth University and an MA in Museum Studies from Georgetown University.
