SUMMARY:Swedish Folk Art Family Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join art professor Alison Aune in a Swedish folk art Family workshop. Alison will lead participants in creating Fantastical Kurbits. Alison will give a brief gallery tour to share the background of Dalmålning\, also known as kurbits painting or Dala painting\, which flourished in Sweden in the 18th and 19th centuries. The kurbit was a fantastical gourd plant commonly used in folk paintings in Dalarna Sweden\, as a symbol of good luck. After the gallery tour\, participants will create their own creative kurbit interpretations as we revive the tradition using a contemporary color palette. \nFee: $20 members\, $25 everyone else. All participants will create and take home their own kurbits folk art painting\, as well as a coloring book made specifically for this workshop.
