DESCRIPTION:Dance Styles of Palenque \nTraditional Dance \nDance in San Basilio de Palenque is an artistic and cultural activity where the people of Palenque express feelings emotions and basic sentiments of everyday life. \nThemes and styles covered: \nA brief explanation of the traditional dance \nStyles of dance: \n\nEl Mapale\nCumbia\nCulebra\nCatalina\nEl pavo\n\nThe traditional dance can be seen in two ways: \n1. Dance as celebration \n2. Dance as pain/mourning \nDance as celebration are those dances that constitute different styles and movements filled with limitless energy. Individual expression (pases) or as couples. \nThese include mapale\, cumbia\, culebra\, catalina and pavo. \nDance as pain carry movements and melancholic “tones”. These are dances that demonstrate the crucial importance of women and of grandmothers. The dances are ritual-based\, specifically rituals of collective mourning. These dances also exhibit the most authentic expression of religion\, oral tradition and of the “kuagros” or familial groups of Palenque. \nAbout Kombilesa Mi \nKombilesa Mi from San Basilio de Palenque was born in 2011 as a musical concept that fuses Hip Hop with traditional rhythms such as the sexteto\, pavo\, bullerengue and chalusonga\, among others) safeguarding the “palenquero” language and using typical instruments from the region\, contributing new sounds to the rich history of Afro-Colombian music.

DESCRIPTION:” Isla que vuela” es una instalación fotográfica de José Arturo Ballester Panelli. Trabaja la geometría sagrada \, escogiendo el hexágono\, símbolo que representa el perpetuo movimiento de la creación y el camino que siguen los procesos de transformación a través de la renovación y el cambio.\nBallesta Nueve escoge las chiringas\, papelotes o cometas\, esa forma de nuestra niñez latina\, para realizar su instalación fotográfica. Una vez más\, presenta sus fotografías de paisajes naturales propios del trópico en forma experimental\, configurando mantras voladores que nos invitan al recuerdo\, la nostalgia\, la contemplacion de nuestros entornos naturales. Nos invita a volar \, a transformarnos mientras el reconocimiento de que todos somos tambien naturaleza en perpetuo cambio y transito y que llevamos nuestra isla\, nuestra tierra natal con nosotros a donde quiera que vamos.\n“Isla que vuela” es un tributo a todos los que vuelan lejos y extienden nuestros territorios más allá de cualquier frontera\, ampliando lo que conocemos como hogar.
