Beyond Good and Evil: to Götterdämmerung in the Third Reich, 1933/1945

October 1, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - February 18, 2021 @ 9:00 pm

$150

Join us in 16-week class as we explore the impact of the Nazi Party on German citizens, a people once considered among the most learned in Europe, as they found themselves caught in the undertow of a diabolical riptide of moral darkness and depravity which defined and culminated in the Holocaust.

Course moderator Mike Haas explains the significant historical events which brought the  Nazis to power in 1933 and then leads us through this darkest chapter of German history until Third Reich’s complete and utter destruction in 1945.

As noted by Peter Fritsche in Life and Death in the Third Reich (2008):

“Many Germans despised the Nazis though they made compromises along the way. Yet most people identified with the Third Reich, and most believed that the Nazis had healed the wounds of German history. At the end of the war, it was very difficult for Germans to come to grips with their initial political desire for the Nazis and their later feelings of betrayal or to evaluate the parts they and their fellow citizens played in the construction of the racial community and in the pursuit of war and genocide or even to recognize the fundamental, revolutionary aims of National Socialism. Postwar debates and discussions preoccupied families for decades and spilled over from one generation to the next.”

A discussion that not only continues to this day but will be of primary concern in this course.

Please note:

Due to social distancing, the in person course will be limited to the number of students that are allowed at the time of the start of the course on October 1, 2020.
