Info Session: Chicago Nikkei and Allies Get on the Bus to D.C.
January 19 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Have you felt angry, helpless, and horrified by the Trump administration’s targeting of immigrants and refugees? Have you seen the actions of Japanese Americans saying “Never Again is Now!” calling for the closing of immigration detention centers, and drawing connections between the Japanese American community’s history of incarceration and what’s happening today? Are you interested in getting involved?
Join the Japanese American Service Committee for an information session about the June 5-7th Tsuru for Solidarity “National Pilgrimage to Close the Camps” in Washington D.C. Learn more about this historic pilgrimage, which will include a protest led by survivors of the WWII camps and their descendants; congressional visits; workshops; and intergenerational healing circles. This is expected to be the largest gathering of Japanese Americans since WWII, and an opportunity to stand in solidarity with immigrants and all people of color being targeted. We will be organizing buses of Japanese Americans and our allies from Chicago to D.C. to join this protest and pilgrimage. There are also plenty of ways to support and get involved locally.
Join us to raise our voices to demand that this administration STOP REPEATING HISTORY!
The JASC is wheelchair accessible, and a single stall gender neutral restroom, along with gendered restrooms are available. Light snacks will be served.
