NHM Virtual Book Club – The Turnaround

February 18 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join the National Hellenic Museum at NHM Virtual Book Club, facilitated by NHM Resident Scholar Dr. Katherine Kelaidis & NHM Manager of Special Events Cairo Dye.  Each month the NHM Book Club will choose a book that is either inspired by the Hellenic legacy or by a Greek American author (and sometimes both!). Then we will gather to discuss the book on Zoom!

Book Club is free to join and meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7pm CST

On February 18th we will be discussing The Turnaround by George Pelecanos

The Turnaround is a story of guilt, redemption, and scars, both literal and figurative. Greek American writer George Pelecanos (The Wire) leaves his usual focus of those who commit crimes and those who try to solve them to explore the long shadows cast over the lives of those “in proximity to the crimes being committed.”  The Turnaround is a story about two very different men, strangers, bound together by the worst night of both their lives.

Upcoming Bookclub Selections:

December 17th – Calypso by David Sedaris

January 21st – Mythos by Stephen Fry

February 18th – The Turnaround by George Pelecanos

March 18th – The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood
