Paper Cutting Arts Workshop (剪纸 / Jian Zhi) with Lucy P. Liu

Artist-in-Residence at the Chinese American Museum of Chicago, Lucy P. Liu, teaches the art of paper cutting in this workshop. This event is co-hosted by the Chinese American Museum of Chicago and the Chicago History Museum.
About Chinese Paper-cut Art:
Chinese Paper-cut, “jian zhi”, is a one-of-a-kind art form, inscribed in 2009 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. It is said that this art started 1800 years ago in ancient China when paper was invented.
About Lucy:
Lucy is a “jian zhi”(scissor paper-cutting) artist, instructor and presenter. Her artwork has been exhibited and shown at many events and received remarkable recognitions. Her vivid live demonstration and exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago greatly impressed audiences. Lucy is a member of GAP (The Guilt of American Paper cutters), ever taught Chinese paper-cutting courses at Benedictine University, Center for Lifelong learning, and in Chicago Public Library, and some other schools and museums. Lucy is an ‘Artist in Residence’ at the Chinese American Museum of Chicago. Lucy has also been instructing paper-cutting workshops on-site and virtually.
