Pongal and Makar Sankranti are celebrated either on the 14th or 15th of January. \nThe celebrations for both festivals are grand\, bright\, and colourful! The word Pongal means to “overflow” in Tamil\, and refers to the dish of boiled milk\, jaggery\, and rice offered to the Sun God Surya.
