SUMMARY:Journey Chicago: Calaveras Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This event is part of Journey Chicago\, the Chicago Cultural Alliance’s annual citywide festival of cross-cultural events. \nDía de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a traditional Mexican celebration honoring those no longer with us. The first day’s activity is a “cut and decorate” Calavera mask: a representation of a human skull\, with markers\, paints\, and other crafting supplies. The second day’s activity is to decorating sugar skulls (Calaveras) with piped icing: they are used in the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead to decorate altars for loved ones who have passed.\n\n\nWorkshop Day 1 (Masks): Saturday October 15\, 10am-12pm\nWorkshop Day 2 (Sugar Skulls) : Sunday\, October 16\, 10am-12pm\n\nRegistration is not required.\n\n\n\nEl Día de los Muertos es una celebración tradicional mexicana en honor a aquellos que ya no están con nosotros.
