SUMMARY:1922: The Smyrna Catastrophe in Context
DESCRIPTION:This 60-minute online lecture will explore the 1922 Smyrna Catastrophe within the context of the tumultuous year of 1922. \n1922 was one of the most eventful and significant years not just of the 20th century\, but of human history. Therefore\, it is impossible to completely understand the Smyrna Catastrophe without understanding the events at Smyrna within the wider context of that tumultuous year. This special NHM Discussion on the 100th anniversary of the Smyrna Catastrophe will explore the events at Smyrna as part of the year 1922. In this discussion\, we will explore questions of nationalism\, geo-politics\, identity\, and power that still effect us today.
