Chicago Cultural Alliance seeks an Archives volunteer to work on-site with its Core Member DANK Haus German American Cultural Center (4740 N. Western Ave). The intern will set out to physically and intellectually organize the DANK Haus institutional archives, catalog the material using PastPerfect museum software, create a basic finding aid(s) for the archives and make the aid(s) available online through the Alliance Community Collections website. This project will endeavor to provide a quality product that will allow for the organization’s staff and membership to have a better understanding of the organization’s history, interests, and activities.

Previous archival coursework or experience working in an archive or with archival material preferred, additional training will be provided
Strong attention to detail
Ability to use a Windows computer and familiarity using a scanner
Ability to work independently and maintain both constant and clear lines of communication with both DANK Haus Staff and the CCA supervisor
Familiarity with handling 3-D & 2-D museum collection material preferred but not required, training can be provided
Experience with PastPerfect preferred but not required, training will be provided

Starting and Ending dates of the position are flexible but applicants are expected to work with the CCA supervisor before working independently
Work for DANK Haus must be performed on-site and you must provide your own means of travel
Ability to work at least 1 day a week for 4 hours between Monday-Friday 9am-5pm or Saturdays 8:30am-12:30pm
Days of the week and times are flexible to suit the volunteer’s needs but need to be determined at least 2 weeks in advance and scheduled with the organization’s staff
