September 1, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

FREE

Join us for a night of lively discussion and discovery of Bronzeville citizens’ history, culture, and creativity.

About this event

About the project: Bronzeville residents, alumni, elders, and interested scholars will participate in workshops at the Jacob H. Carruthers Center to tell, write, and share what we know or have learned about Bronzeville’s rich history. We’ll delve into our own knowledge of this thriving African-American community’s cultural, artistic, and social development to share this important history with one another, with the young people in our neighborhood schools, and with a wider American audience of visitors to the area. Bronzeville’s story is a significant part of this country’s overall history, a part too often left out. The recollections and accounts will be curated as a permanent display at the Carruthers Center Library for residents, visitors, and young people to learn about their valuable heritage.
