Come celebrate La Candelaria Day with us!!!
Food and Art Workshops!
We are waiting for you this February 3 from 4 to 6 p.m.
In 2017, parent leaders from 4 local schools, (Kanoon Elementary Magnet, Saucedo Scholastic Academy, Spry Elementary Community and Hammond Elementary), came to us for support on recreating the Traditional Mexican Winter Celebrations in our community. The idea was to provide the families in the community a space where these annual celebrations can be experienced and passed on to their children. These celebrations are focused on gathering families to sing, walk, dance, perform, make and break pinatas, provide art activities and create a space for parents to share their stories from their childhood with their children, family, and friends.
These celebrations begin with the “Posada” in December, followed by “La Rosca de Reyes” in January, and close off on “El Dia de La Candelaria” in February. The first posada was such a great success, with over 300 residents attending each event, we knew we had to continue these celebrations.
