Reevaluating Our Resources: Digital and Hybrid Events and Exhibitions for the Future – Mar 25 @ 3pm

Join Surinder Martignetti Frank Konrath from See Chicago Dance and Kate Flynn the Chicago Collections Consortium as they discuss the work of creating digital and hybrid events and exhibitions in the context of reevaluating our attitudes and understanding of these mediums. They’ll also consider how they can be thought of and seen as resources for future arts and cultural endeavors. Moderated by Suzy Kahn Winberg of Big Shoulder Stories.

Surinder Martignetti, Community Engagement Manager for See Chicago Dance, Arts Ninja, and Consulting Producer
Surinder Martignetti holds a BA in Dance and Theater and a Graduate Diploma in Education from Western Sydney University in Australia. She also holds a Masters Degree in Arts, Entertainment, from Columbia College Chicago. Surinder has deep knowledge of the Chicago dance field and has served as part of See Chicago Dance in various program management capacities since 2013. Other career highlights include roles with the Chicago Dancing Festival, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, The Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago Ideas Week and The International Music Foundation. Along with her life as an arts administrator, she is a dancer, jewelry maker, poet, and storyteller, she also performs under the alias Miss Mittens.

Kate Flynn, Portal Manager for Chicago Collections Consortium
Kate Flynn (she/her) is the Portal Manager for the Chicago Collections Consortium and also the Digital Programs & Metadata Project Librarian at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She previously was a Resident Librarian at the University of Illinois at Chicago for Digital Programs & Services. She earned an MSI from the University Of Michigan School Of Information in 2011, specializing in Preservation of Information and Archives & Records Management. She is most interested in issues around digital preservation, user experience and metadata.

Suzy Kahn Weinberg, Executive Producer of Big Shoulders Stories
A writer, producer and active community leader Suzy (she/her) has had many roles in her personal and professional career that all center on the power of storytelling. Suzy is currently a co-producer of a monthly live storytelling series called ​Is this a thing?​, now in its 9th year, featuring true personal narratives told on stage. She is a founding member and creator of the show– conducting writing workshops, coaching performers, and hosting the events when she isn’t herself performing an original story. Big Shoulders Stories​ is Suzy’s latest venture, partnering with Chicago’s nonprofit organizations to identify, nurture, and showcase storytellers and their stories.
